ALCALC: A Context Description Logic
نویسندگان
چکیده
We develop a novel description logic (DL) for representing and reasoning with contextual knowledge. Our approach descends from McCarthy’s tradition of treating contexts as formal objects over which one can quantify and express first-order properties. As a foundation we consider several common product-like combinations of DLs with multimodal logics and adopt the prominent (Kn)ALC . We then extend it with a second sort of vocabulary for describing contexts, i.e., objects of the second dimension. In this way, we obtain a two-sorted, two-dimensional combination of a pair of DLs ALC, calledALCALC . As our main technical result, we show that the satisfiability problem in this logic, as well as in its proper fragment (Kn)ALC with global TBoxes and local roles, is 2ExpTime-complete. Hence, the surprising conclusion is that the significant increase in the expressiveness of ALCALC due to adding the vocabulary comes for no substantial price in terms of its worst-case complexity.

Contextual Representation and Reasoning with Description Logics
Despite most of the information available in the Semantic Web (SW) is context dependent, there is a lack of mechanism to qualify knowledge with the context in which it is supposed to hold. In the current practice, contextual information is often crafted in the ontology identifier or in the annotations, non of which affects reasoning. Extensions of the SW languages with specific mechanisms that ...
متن کاملTypological Description of Written Formative Feedback on Student Writing in an EFL Context
This study is a typological description of written formative feedback in an EFL context in Iran. Twenty M.A. students of TEFL participated in the study. They were required to summarize a scholarly article in each session on which the instructor would provide written corrective feedback (CF). Written formative comments were extracted, coded, and categorized into various types, such as asking for...

متن کاملA Context Model for Service Composition Based on Dynamic Description Logic
A service composition task for service broker is to discovery and compose provider’s services to satisfy user’s request. Many researchers model the context utilizing ontology-based or attribute-based method to assist service composition. We propose a new context model by combining the context logic with the dynamic description logic (DDL), where user’ context, provider’s context and broker’s co...
متن کاملExtending the Description Horn Logic DHL
We extend the description Horn logic DHL [5], which is a fragment of the description logic SHI, to a fragment EDHL of the context-free description logic with inverse roles ALCIcf . We show that the instance checking problem in EDHL has PTime data complexity. Combining EDHL with Datalog we obtain the query language EDHL-Datalog with PTime data complexity. We introduce and study also the general ...
